Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.   Rm. 12:4-5

The human body is made up of different parts and each part has a very important function to perform.  My body would be hurt in its entirety if I lost my eyesight.  The quality of my life would be diminished significantly if I lost my hearing.  I would struggle much more than I do now through life, if one of my legs were amputated.  Every part works together for the good of the entire body.  It is the same in the church.  All members together from one body and each member's contribution is essential for a healthy church.  R.C. Sproul

Do we ever really think about how much we hurt others when we don't use the gifts God has given us for the body of Christ?  Or, how much we hurt others when we don't allow them to use their gifts?

Do we really think that "each member belongs to all the others"?

The Fall of Babylon

Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said: "With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again.  The music of harpists and musicians, flute players and trumpeters, will never be heard in you again.  No workman of any trade will ever be found in you again.  The sound of a millstone will never be heard in you again.  The light of a lamp will never shine in you again.  The voice of bridegroom and bride will never be heard in you again."

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished.  And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

As morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying,  "Up!  Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be swept away in the punishment of the city."  But he lingered.  So the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand,  the LORD being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city.  And as they brought them out, one said,  "Escape for your life.  Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley.  Gen. 19:15-17

What a wonderful picture of God's grace, mercy and love to man and man's slowness to flee from sin and be obedient to God.  God help us all not to linger.
